The end of the school year is looming ever closer and trying to find summer activities is always a challenge. Why not get the kids involved in some of the great Free Summer Reading Programs?
Be sure to check your local libraries- they often have incredible summer reading programs as well.
Free Summer Reading Programs
Barnes & Noble Imagination Destination – This summer reading program through Barnes & Noble gives your child the ability to earn a FREE book after reading 8 books and keeping track of them in a reading log.
Books-A-Million– Read any 4 books from the Books-A-Million Summer Reading Challenge selection in-stores and online, you’ll receive a FREE Maze Runner series water bottle! Note that you must present the completed reading journal in-stores to receive the water bottle, while supplies last.
Chuck E. Cheese – Earn 10 FREE tokens every time your child reads for 2 weeks in a row. Just fill out the form and bring it in to claim your free token.
Half Price Books – They are offering kids ages 14 and under a chance to earn a $5 Gift Card for reading just 15 each day throughout the summer!
Lifeway – Kids will receive a free Bible and free book when they read six books and memorize six scripture verses over the summer. The completed summer reading journal needs to be turned in to a local Lifeway store to receive the freebies.
Pottery Barn Kids- Every Tuesday at 11AM, attend FREE Story Time at your local Pottery Barn Kids with readings, activities and more. Plus, become a Pottery Barn Kids Club member and you’ll get a special surprise after attending five events (possibly a $10 off purchase coupon, free book, or other prize).
Scholastic Summer Challenge – Log in your reading minutes to the Scholastic site and your child will be able to participate in a World Record challenge as well as earn digital prizes!
Showcase Cinemas Bookworm Wednesdays – Your child can earn a FREE movie ticket from National Amusements Theaters when they read a book and complete a book report.
Six Flags Read to Succeed – K-6 students who complete six hours of non-school-related reading approved by their parents and teachers are eligible for free admission to their nearest theme park.
Sylvan Book Adventure– Book Adventure is a free, online reading program for children in grades K-8. Kids learn to love reading through interactive tools, games and motivational rewards. At Book Adventure, reading is rewarding! Within the Prize Library, kids can search for a prize they’d like to win or exchange points for a prize they have earned by reading books and answering quiz questions correctly.
